Not much axperience with 4 speed cars...Just about done with the resto on this car but I can not get it to crank unless I ground the wire going to the starter relay from the clutch switch. Not sure that I understand how this switch works...looks like a coil spring. Is this part available from anywhere still? I would appreciate some guidance/baby sitting on this one.

Pull the switch out and ground the terminal on the relay. Just don't start it in gear.

Cars survived 70+ years without a clutch safety switch, just use your head and don't start it in gear.

I just rigged up a small toggle switch under the dash on my 73 that works just like the clutch switch. I have to "close" the switch before the starter will work. It Also will keep anyone else from being able to start the car.

Yes can bypass it but assumed you wanted to stay OE. Here's the one I have

Jules the Wiperman sells and restores those switches. I had him do mine, but no pics. Great guy to deal with.

That switch is just the end of the ground circuit..
see if you can put a VOM on the wire and then ground
and move the pedal to see if the switch works
