I am in the process of finalizing an in tank pump on my 56 using a setup from Tanks Inc.
It's a lot of work but not has hard or scary as it looks.

The worst part was flattening the ridges and humps on the top of the tank. I had to heat and shrink the metal to create a flat spot for the flange. NOTE this tank has NOT had any fuel in it for over 15 Years, there were Zero fumes present, and no chance of combustion when using the torch to work the metal!!!!! If your tank has ever had fuel in it STAY AWAT FROM IT WITH A TORCH. I was cautioned that even flushing it with water would not be safe.

I installed a 5.7 in to an old carburated Jaguar XJ6, it has dual tanks so a conventional set up with a return line doesn't work. So, I left the stock electric small pressure pumps in to the stock tanks and installed an auxilar 1 quart auxiliar tank in to the engine bay. After that is an MSD EFI pump, Aeromotive regulator with a return line to the auxiliar tank. Seems to work just fine the little I have driven it so far.

depending on your car, they now make the pickups with return lines already on them, or you take the vent line and use it as a return.

I used a walbro 255 and I have also used the msd generic pump from summit and the aeromotive regulator.

both are able to auto prime themselves and work well for an efi 5.9.

i like the kits from rock valley. you can buy the kit and install it yourself or buy a new tank with it already installed. can't see it in the pics but inside the tank there is a circular thing around the pump to hold fuel around the pump so it isn't starved for fuel when going around corners at say a quarter tank of gas..

I like the looks of the kit from rock valley also, but plan to put my own pump on it (new walbro 400 lph pump) with a new stock tank for my van myself. New replacement tank = no chance of kaboom from welding! At least that's the plan so far... to feed the Viper V10 she'll be getting

Believe me I wish there was a replacement tank for my car. It seems that 56 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer's are no where near as popular as Challengers, Chargers, or even Tri 5 Chubbies........Go Figure.

I searched high and low for something that I could adopt or retrofit before I settled on this Tanks Inc. pump.

Now I just have to get the tank cleaned out and i will be good to go.

Yeah I emailed them a while back said I could order their kit minus the pump so I could use my own.

That is a sweet car there!! I'd look into custom making a tank for it myself, but that's just me
