Im using a 340/ 416 stroker in my 71' roadrunner. the car is originally an air car, and was planning on making it look stock as possible. is there anything to consider or be worried about with having the ac and a strong running small block? or will everything be fine? thanks!

just keep the cam tame enough that you have decent idle quality and not a ton of idle drop when the extra drag of the compressor kicks on. for a street driver, I'd probably stick with a cam in the 230@.050 range or so (like a comp XE275HL)

and that the intake you choose clears your a/c compressor.

I was thinking that someone had a problem with the thermostat housing location on their particular intake interfering with their compressor. I didn't pay any attention to it at the time.

I'm using the lunati 40417 cam in a 408 stroker and I have no problem running the A/C. The idle needs to be set at 1000 rpm in neutral to keep the in gear idle up high enough to keep the compressor head temp down. I had a bit of fit trouble with my Edelbrock performer and it was just a matter of doing a little grinding on one of the compressor support brackets. Didn't take but a couple of minutes to fix it. It's the bracket on the drivers side that goes from the side of the compressor to the intake.

Great minds think alike!!!! That is the cam I am running in my 390 stroker and even with 1.6 rockers and ported magnum heads it handles the load of the AC just fine. I am using a C171 compressor in my 83 Cordoba. The only problem is the thermostat housing is offset to the drivers side a bit and the only intakes that will fit are the performer and the Torker 2 or a stock style. I did go with the single plane T2 and I do lose a bit on the low end but I am overall very pleased with the combo. It is definately worth it to have AC as I drove to Bradenton 2 weeks ago to make a few passes and it was real nice driving in comfort!!! The only probelm I am having is throwing belts at 6,000rpm.... I can't find 2 belts the exact same size so I has good tension and the other stays loose and fly's off. I did however use just 1 belt and did a mega burnout and it stayed on no problem??? TBF
