How are the new 426 Hemi crate engines working out? Are there any problems with them? Anybody buy from dealer in B.C. or Alberta?
Thanks

Maybe yes , maybe no , A friend (RIP) had Barton build his 440 stroker , had to take it back because of water leaking into the crankcase from a headbolt issue.

Anything NOT built by Cummins recon should be a Winner.

I've read that it is Gary Stanton building the 426 and that Ray Barton builds the 472 & 528. From what I've read all the 2008 and newer crate engines are much better than the earlier Cummings built engines. Apparently Mopar spent a pile of money on new tooling to improve the quality of the parts and then switched to these builders to improve on the quality of the assembly process. A quick way to spot a 2008 and newer block is to look for the extra frost plugs, which are on the front of the block on either side of the water pump.

I have a 2009 built 426 crate Hemi that I bought from my local Dodge dealer. I haven't had any problems with it yet, but that maybe cause it's still strapped to the crate on the garage floor.

MP banks on people like you , I am one also , that buys the engine and doesn't run it till long after the warranty term has expired ... 90 days

I'm 99% sure all the GOOD crate motors are based on the World Products block .

When the crate motor program started with ARROW racing the product was very good. When ARROW and MP parted ways and they outsourced to the LOWEST BIDDER, they got exactly what they paid for lowest bidder quality .

Stanton Racing now builds all 426, 472 and 528 engines for Mopar Performance using the World Products Megablock. Up until recently Stanton built only the 426 and 472 engines and Barton built the 528 engines. According to Stanton Racing, they now build all three ( 3 ) engines. I had Stanton Racing build a 472 Hemi engine in 2009. There was a Rear Main Seal Retainer oil leak from the get-go and Stanton repaired the problem this past Summer of 2011 at no cost to me. After the repairs were completed, they also ran the engine on their NEW engine dyno as a quality control step to insure that the oil leak repairs were effective. Obviously I had to remove the engine and transport it to and from Stanton's Race Shop in Nicholasville, KY. I am extremely satisfied with the customer service provided by Stanton Racing.

Thanks Guys. That was interesting to read about the additional frost plugs up front on the Worls blocks . Good point Thanks.
I am still debating on salvaging what is left of my hemi and piece it back together or just start new and sell parts from the old one

Here is my 2009 built 426 that has the front frost plug just below the head.
