My motor is almost done and I was looking for a nice combo intake and carb to put on it. I still want to be able to shut my hood on my 69 charger with out it hitting my air cleaner. I'm not sure of the specs on the motor but it is bult and will probably have around 450 hp.

its hard to say with no specs. but for 450 horsepower 440 i would run a performer rpm with a edelbrock 750 carb. if its more on the 400 horse side run a ch4b.

you will need to get a drop base air filter. im not sure how much of a drop but i need to get one for my 383 with an rpm intake for my 68 charger.

As the Edelbrock 750s have been known to have problems that are more than simple to work through, I would suggest an Edelbrock 800. They don't seem to have the same kinds of problems. the Thunder series AVS carbs while expensive seem to really work well.

Mild street build, it's hard to beat a Eddy Thunder, I've run both 650 and 800's The carbs just plain work. On more agressive cams where the vacuum signal is weak Holleys are a better choice. Really like the Eddy RPM or if you need just a bit more hood clearance try a Holley Street Dominator intake.

Holley 750 carb, w/ vacuum secondaries or a DP.

For intake, edelbrock RPM would work great but require you to run a drop-base air cleaner. Holley Street Dominator would work well if you have at least 3.55 or numerically higher gears.

I run the Holley Street Dominator with a Holley 850 DP on my 440 that makes about 500 flywheel HP. I have a 1" spacer on it and it fits under my flat hood with no problems. I like the Performer RPM and the Holley Street Dominator alot for mild street/strip bigblocks. But the RPM is higher and wont clear some flat hoods so I went with the Holley SD and the 850 DP and I love it as they work great for me. Ron

Any one have the part #'s for the holley SD and the holley 850 carb. I think I'll go that route as I dont want to have any cleance issues. I also want to try the holley carb and intake out as I've gone with edelbrock in the past and want to change it up and try something different. Thanks so much guys for all your help.

Cool, thanks Darren. I just found the carb, does this seem like a decent price for it?

Also should go with the 750 holley or the 800 with 450hp?

The 750 will be snappier on the lowend and the 850 will run better up top. Either will work well if tuned properly.
Whoops just saw that you said 800 not 850.The 800 would probably be a good compromise .
