The only reason to restrict flow is to make the engine run hotter, or to prevent pump pressure from blowing the cap open on a top tank radiator. You can not make the engine run cooler by restricting flow. That is an old wives tale that has been disproven by scientific testing. Higher flow = lower, more consistant temps in the heads, reduces steam pockets and reduces detonation. Proceed acordingly.

Is that really a fact?
I believe that if water flows slow through the rad it will be cooler entering the motor.

Btw i have always used a stat with a mech pump.
I even used a stat on my hemi with elec pump seemed to work but got too little run time to say for sure

Well, think of of this way: Would you slow down the flow of air thru the radiator so that it had more time to absorb heat? Of course not. It is the same thing.

If you have an electric water pump, don't run a thermostat or a restrictor.

please explain why not.
Doesnt an electric pump move more water than a mech at idle?
Im about to use both a stat and the heater.

You can leave the pump running and completely cool the motor down. If the thermostat closes, you can't circulate water.
Meziere says NOT to run a thermostat w/ any of their pumps.

They may say not to, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Street driven with a Meziere for 6 years with a 160º stat with five 1/8" holes around the perimeter, never a problem. The holes make all the difference.

The formula for cooing is 1.1(?) x gpm x deltaT = cooling

The mre flow, the more cooling, The better rad, better cooling (delta T =temp difference between in and out)
