My 360 was burning oil on hard acceleration and deceleration. Then it just kind of turned into a crop duster burning it all the time. I assumed it was tired with 14,000 very hard miles on it. Prior to pulling it out I did a compression check and was surprised to find the weakest cylinder at 170 PSI and the highest at 180 PSI.
I never had a problem with it burning oil until I had the heads sent out for a valve job. Before I pop these heads off any ideas on what it could be? The rings and valves seem to be sealing. So far I'm guessing the intake not sealing at the bottom of the ports or valve guides.
Compression test as follows
1)170 2)180
3)171 4)180
5)176 6)180
7)176 8)170

What do you consider burning oil.
Loose guides or valve seals will allow some oil consumption and still have good compression readings. In fact the oil rings can be marginal and still have good compression if the compression rings are still sealing or vice versa low compression and no oil consumption.

Odds are compression rings will become marginal before oil rings.

Sounds like intake not sealing around all your ports very well.
