..........hooked up the slap stik, had to see how it worked. Really cool!!! There was a spring in the box of parts, anyone have a diagram, or know where it goes? It's not the one on the shifter, it is fairly large with hooks on each end, almost at 90 degree angles. Thank you!

I just found a bunch of pics here in the tech section, not one has a spring. It probably ended up in the stupid box and belongs to something else, I can't imagine a spring to hold it in Park, but maybe I am wrong

If it is a round spring with two straight ends sticking out from it it is a tensioner spring that hooks to the front pivot. It is located under the front of the console where the vertical shaft goes through the floorboard.

One end connects to small hole on the top tab on the vertical shaft and one goes to the notch in the plate that holds the top of the vertical shaft in place.

Hope it helps.

That's where I thought it might go, but I must have the plate upside down. I went by the bolt marks, but that's not to say the last guy didn't have it upside down. Thanks, I will try that.

It does not wrap around the shaft it hangs off to the side. Whn installed correctly it looks like it shouldn't be there.

Those springs are becoming extremely difficult to find, are they being reproduced?

Ahhhhhhhh.........now I truly am Slap Happy! It works great, I put on the new bezel too. Restoring the lighted part was a pain, but it will be worth it when I drive it at night. It is so cool how they designed the "needle" to change colors as you shift........who needs technology????
