I have the unsilenced air cleaner on the car and it is chromed. Did it originally come chrome or was it painted? I was thinking about painting it black wrinkle finish but wasn't sure what was original.

Unsilenced? I'm pretty sure all 67 R/T's came with a dual snorkle.

Late production and/or 4-speed cars often came with unsilenced air cleaners. Not sure if it was a manual-only requirement or if it was because they were late production. The air cleaner is black, wrinkle finish.

That is correct. Most think that the dual snorkle was the only H.P. aircleaner on 67 Coronet R/T-67 Plymouth GTX but it wasn`t. I`ve only seen the unsilenced style on 1967 4 speed cars.

Which unsilenced one is it with that little bitty carb throat? Is it like a 361 or 383? Obviously not the large mouth 68 version.

Here is an article out of Mopar Muscle Magazine.

The '67 440 HP engines used one of two air cleaners-the first being a dual-snorkel unit with the snorkel more oval shaped the closer it came to the air cleaner. The second type was a large 18-inch round unsilenced air cleaner, similar to the dual-snorkel version, but without the snorkels. It's similar to the '64-'65 426 cleaner except this and the '68 cleaner are not chrome. The '64-'65 air cleaner doesn't accept a pie tin I.D. plate. The unsilenced unit was also used on '67 383 A-Body applications and some early '68 383 HP and 440 HP engines.

This is exactly what mine looks like, but mine is chrome. I was thinking I should strip it back down and go with the black wrinkle finish.
