If all three have the same 2.02/1.60 valves and no real porting done on them, other than a bowl blend, is there any performance gain one head to the other? This is a 360 in a truck not taken over 5500rpm.
Thanks
Brian

No. There is no real difference to be gained on over the other. In fact there is no real gain to be had with the 2.02 valve head over the same casting with the 1.88 valve heads until you start using the upper RPM range. In fact the 2.02 heads can take away some of your low end. I was told this by several long time machinist and didn't believe it either so I got a set of 915 2.02 heads with no machining and matched the CC's to the 1.88 valve heads I was using also with no porting done. Gain - not a thing. In my case I didn't loose either. Talking to some very good friends of my that dirt track found the same thing. They gained more torque out of teh corners and didn't loose on the straights with the 1.88 heads and they were not peaking over 6200 at any time. If you are going to be consistantly twisting and running over 6000 go for it.
The going from the 2.02 heads to the 1.88 valve heads on the 340 was blamed for the power reduction when it was a combination of factors involved making the engine more EPA compatable.

In a truck that is going around 5500, stay with the 1.88 valves.
