Should 340 rod bearings have a oil hole where the two halfs come together? The set that came in my rebuild kit do not have an oil hole (Clevite CB-481-P20 2130CP20). The old bearings in my engine had an oil hole pre drilled (Clevite 2130CP)

Did I get the wrong part # or do I need to cut a oil hole in the bearings?

Most bearing makers started omitting the oil hole years ago, it's considered unnecessary.

No you don't need the hole, don't worry about it.

If you are talking about the hole where the two halves come together, yes you need it, I think. Isn't he talking about the hole that shoots oil into the opposite cylinder?

Mfr's figured out that cyls'/rings get enough splash as is without addt'l help from a squirt hole so they stopped adding them. You're good

Yup, even with a tray.
I'm running a 340 that I built in 07 and now have 10000+ miles on it. The acid test was the 120 mph blast on the salt flats for over 5 miles at a time, 3 times in 2010 on a 95 degree day!
Then drove it to the top of Pikes Peak this summer when it was 95 degrees out. Drove it today.
