So I installed a new stainless unit in my Valiant... and it only reads the first 7 gallons of the tank. When it's full its full... when the gauge reads empty I've only used 7 or so gallons of gas. I either need to fix or replace it. I didn't keep any of the box or info from the last unit so I don't know who to avoid, but who makes a good one that reads correctly? Unless someone knows how to make this one work correctly.

Unless you find a real, genuine Mopar NOS unit your S.O.L. I have yet to find an aftermarket unit that gets installed and works correctly without any issues. Good luck.
Nobody gets in to see the wizard! Ain`t no way! Ain`t no how!

I always say this and no one ever responds to it, but...I picked mine up from autozone, and after running my own bigger, home made ground strap from the sending unit to the frame, it reads very accurately. When its full it reads full, and when it is almost empty, it reads empty. Works great and Im happy with it. It is a Spectre brand from autozone.

At the advice of TheRocks (Rocky), a member here, instead of using the factory style grounding strap, I made my own. Dont remember the guage but it was a nice thick wire. I clamped one end to the normal spot on the sending unit with a small metal hose clamp (the ones that tighten with a screw), and I ran the other end to a freshly cleaned, nice and shiny bare metal spot in the frame and screwed it in. Voila, worked like a charm.
