I'm relly hoping someone can help me with this problem! I have an 89 Dodge truck 360 auto. that i use for a plow truck.
The problem started suddenly, idles fine but as soon as the RPM's are brought up it starts cracking and banging out the exhaust really bad, doesn't matter the truck is cold or hot.
I tried 3 different coils, dist. pick-up, entire dist., wires, plugs, even the alternator just in case!
Pulled the engine out do to a freeze plug leak in the back of the block, while out found a badly worn lifter and cam lobe so new cam and lifters went in along with timing chain and gears, put it back in fired it up and it still has the exact same problem! Then tryed a different carb. and computer but still made no difference!
Any ideas what this could possibly be? Am i overlooking something?
