I have a new water pump with a casting number 2402921. I do know it's exactly the right dimensions as what is on the 70 Hemi engines. Anybody know what all the engines and years this pump came on originally?

68-71 BB/Hemi water pump. Both A/C & Non-A/C used the same casting number. 2843290 - 6 & 8 blade impellers.

The information states impellers of 6 and 8 with part number 2843290. I have one with 10. Is it specific to a certain motor?

With A/C = 6 blades
W/O A/C = 8 blades
Hemi = blades

I haven't seen any stock 10 blades. There are a lot of rebuilds floating around, who knows what was installed on them.

Since the Hemi never came with A/C the '68 and earlier used the 8-vane pump and it was driven at near crankshaft speed; in '68 they changed the pullies to drive the pump and fan faster and at the same time the Hemi got the 6-vane A/C pump.

Here's a pic of the 10-vane iron impeller, some impellers were also plastic.

Is that a 2843290 casting? If so, are you sure that the impeller is original to that pump housing?

Here is a factory water pump rebuild kit for a 2843290 casting water pump. This one is for an A/C or Hemi car. All the original 2843290 casting pumps I have seen have a stamped steel impeller.

I suspect that the basic 2843290 casting would accept both the 6 and 8-vane impellers.

I don't know the casting number of the 10-vane, I just posted the pic to show that they were used.
