Are you talking about the door(s) that swing/hinge on the vertical rod that you set in place before you fit the 2 housing halves together

thats what i think to from looking at pics but what about the flat one?
To me the only logical place would be on the inside, to stiffen up but that wont fit the insulation (square hole)

I do think -72 looks the same

There is one with four studs that is attached to back of the heater box, that goes through the fire fall with the blower motor mounted, there are 4 spacer's and nuts that lock the blower motor to the 4 studs. Once you push it into the fire wall there is a black plate that has a flat side to it and you put the seal behind it and side the 1/2 wide seal over the blower motor and attach the black plate over the blower mototr and the four studs and tighten it doen with 4 1/4 20 nuts with washer attached. The only other part that hold the heater box in , is the rod that attcheds to the bottom of the vent area on the passenger side and hooks into the cowl.

the plate for the fan motor is in place with the four studs.
But i have another flat plate with four holes in it for the studs and i also have a shaped plate witch i have seen other cars have from the engine side.
So should i not use the flat plate?

Ok i found out why it doesnt make any sence.
I looked at my heater box for my -68 valiant and the blower motor is actally bigger than what it is for the -68 cuda.
I could maybe be an export thing or an upgrade replacement cause the motor for my -70 Duster is also smaller.
So the plate hole is a differnt size for the two motors.
Thats also why the gasket doesnt fit.
So the plate for the smaller motors (says made by koni on the motor) are flat and the plate for the chrysler partnr motors are shaped.

Sounds like you might have a extra plate that attches to the blower motor and that you will need. The 4 studs are attched to the heater box housing and the flat plate attachs to the front of the blower motor once you remove the cage.
