FWIW there is a brand new TCI 10" in the swap area right now, just a little to loose for me, but it might be just the ticket for you....

I had the same problem when I first put the 72 together and thought the same as you, the converter.
As it turned out, a little adjusting of the 4 corner idle screws was all it needed

Your tuneup is the problem, not the converter.
Remember, the Mopars with the most radical cams ever from the factory also had the tightest converters ever and they idled in gear just fine.

Thats what I was thinking. Cam is part no. P4120233 and I know I have seen a stall recommendation chart somewhere but I can't find it.
I am thinking around 2600??
Had to look up the PN. The old 292 509 cam. You need a 3500+.
