Unbelieveable... I never thought I'd read something like this checking moparts as usual in the morning. I'm very sorry to hear this, Gary was a great guy, never personally met him, but definetly have the feeling that I lost a friend/family member.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Gary and his family. I never met him either, and am a relative newcomer to the board, but after reading his posts I wish I'd have met him in person. Was hoping to this summer... May God be with you, man.

Gary: Very cool of you.. And it my pleasure/honor to serve..
I've read every post in this thread. They are all great, BUT this is the one that nearly brought me to tears. It nearly brought me to tears over the passing of a man I've never met or seen, in person.
This thread is a testament to the strength of the community that is THIS board.
This community is MUCH more than cars...
Best wishes to Gary's (unlawfl's) family in this terrible time.

Dave Dudek called this morning and asked if I had been on Moparts yet today. I had not, and when he told me the sad news, I was stunned. I'm still in shock.
I first met Gary last spring, but I felt like I already knew him from the message boards and the numerous times we had communicated via email and PM. In the two different events where I met him, I found that he was a genuinely nice guy with a great sense of humor. (i'll never forget when he did his "cop trick" - he threw a donut 30 feet in the air and caught it in his mouth, powdered sugar sprayed all over his face) He was interested and concerned with other people, and liked to help. Perhaps that's why he became a Police Officer.
It was also evident from some of his posts here that he was a man of Faith. When death takes such a fine man in the prime of his life, leaving behind a family, it is difficult to understand why God would allow that to happen. He must need him more there than we do here.
He will be missed.

I'm not a deeply religious person but Gary WILL be missed and my condolences go out to his wife and family.. Met him a few times. He turned me on to the painters of his car who then painted mine. Stopped by his house one weekend to meet with some local Moparts members and an out of towner who was in the area and wanted to hook up with some local Moparts members. He recently offered to GIVE me the A/C heater box outta his car because his car was now a "race car". I told him you know thats worth probably $400 or $500. He said "I know. Thats why YOU'LL have to take it out but you can use my tools ".
Great guy!

Even though I have only been on this board for six months or so, I had read most if not all of Gary's posts. He seemed like a very interesting, and caring person who was an asset to his community. Being a policeman, is one tough job and it take a special kind of heart to keep it all in the right frame of mind. I am sure he enjoyed being a Moparts mod, he helped people in his town and people all over the world too. That is as much as anyone can be asked of.
The world it seems is a little worse for his departure now, but a person like Gary who touched so many lives so far from is own home, will live on in his friend's memories forever. Peace to his family, Stu
