Thinking of changing to a roller cam. What would be the HP/ET gain by switching. For example lets say the duration and lift is similar, around 269/276 and .650 lift? Just seeing if it is worth the money to swap.

I "heard" that switching from a solid cam to a roller cam you "could" gain 30hp.

A roller of the same specs as a flat tappet is worth around 30 HP if of course the rest of the combo is up to it.

BTW same with a TR, so you could conceivably pick up an approx. 60-65 HP with a roller and a tunnel ram after proper tuning.

And if you want to pick up another supposed 30 HP you could tube the cam tunnel. (((Oops, did I say that out loud?)))

I've seen guys pick up .3 ET when changing from a flat tappet cam to a roller cam of similr size, don't forget about the valve springs, retainers, keepers and pushrods to handle the increased valve spring pressures Some of the gains from part changes don't measure as well on a dyno as they do at the track I've seen a carb and intake change made on the engine dyno gain 23 HP and simlar torque increase and the car pick up over .3 ET and 3 MPH, that don't calculate with 10 HP being worth ,1 ET and 1 MPH gain in a 3200 LB car I guess the message there is some parts are worth more gain than others, lots of different ways to make the car go faster All of them usually involve money and work
