I am looking for a nice set of aftermarket speakers for the two outside speakers on a three speaker dash for a E body. Any one have any suggestions, I am unsure of the size, I want to make sure they mount up without to much trouble.

Thanks,

Paul

Turnswitch.com offers some that are very close. They have reproduction 8 ohm speakers for just about every 60's - 70's musclecar.

Don't forget to support the sponsors of this board...Here's the new repop speakers available for the 3 speaker E body dash... Herbs parts ...Trouble with that location is the relatively small speaker opening in the metal frame for the{what is considered now}super small magnets on the older speakers...Most new speakers have magnets darn near the same size as the small speakers...If you're using a modern stereo and want to stage the sound up there I've seen some A}Cut the metal dash frame...B} make an insert that uses two speakers for the center opening ...Does'nt do much for the stereo sound though...Or C}Here's what I did...I use a small hard dome tweeter and make up an adapter so it attaches to the original speakers mounting holes...Throws the high notes up there and no distortion from a small speaker trying to project bass...

Screamin, great idea, do you have any pictures of your install? I am only going to run the speakers on the corners of the dash and the rear 6x9's so I am only looking for clear crisp highs from the dash.....

I'm planning on running the small dome tweeters in the outer locations and mount a center channel in the middle location. Alpine makes a center channel that I think might just fit in there. I still gotta do some measuring.

I don't have any of the pics handy but it was a straight forward deal...Use some plastic or plexiglass and cut it in the shape of the original speakers and paint it black...In my case the hard dome tweeter needed a hole in the center of the panel and it was fastened by a supplied lockring that simply slid on from the back...Super easy...You really need to be looking through the dash grate to see anything...
