Just wondering, for a call that isn't in any way original (thanks, previous owners..)... What sort of hood would be adaptable to a 67 Barracuda? I'm thinking of something with Mopar heritage (no cowl hoods here!) like an air grabber or shaker.. I've seen a shaker-hood on a Panther Pink 67 and ... It wasn't my gig.. I'm still thinking those side-vent style air grabbers are fetching...

I saw a flat hood (no hood louvres) in fiberglass a few Spring Flings ago and I thought that'd look sharp with the 69 style hood scoops on it.. But, I'd want this setup to be functional.. (otherwise, why put in the effort?)..

What about an air grabber in between the existing hood louvers? Or would that look too tacky?

Just wondering out loud.. Any ideas? Someone suggested once cutting another barracuda hood center part out, flipping it over, and welding it in as a scoop.. Anyone good with photoshop? That sounded vaguely interesting too.. I'm not a visual guy so I couldn't figure it in my head..

Not what you're looking for, but I'd leave the hood stock and plumb in fresh air from the grill area.

Dart Sport hood is EXACTLY the same as a 69 Barracuda. Get a spare one and do something different!

I don't have access to photobucket right now -- but you can see the hood on my daughter's '67 in my sig.

I have two hoods for my 67 and if I keep the spare I may try to make a scoop that bridges the gap between the raised parts of the hood. As it turns out the 65 Shelby Mustang scoop is about the right size to be trimmed and made to fit. I only brought this scoop up because it is the easy way to do this. It won't look anything like the original part when I'm done with it. In the end I may never get around to it and will probably just sell the spare hood, but it's a thought.

Hey Hotwheels, that's the first time I've seen that style hood on a second gen. fish! I'd love to see more pictures close up and from the side.. How did you get that to fit? Fiberglass or did you borrow from a real steel hood?

ERacer--

I've got four dual-snorkel air cleaners in the garage thanks to that quest (fresh air from grill).. hehe.. Ends up that if I leave the battery in the stock location it becomes very complicated. I thought that a good exhaust shop might be able to shape some pipes to go down under the bumper area, then up across the sides of the engine bay or something but I haven't tried the routing yet. I'll need to grab some PVC and elbows to mock it up sometime.

The Mopar dual snorkel is off of something with a 400 and I need to weld the doors on it open (it looks like just serve to block off the air intakes like a choke?)

The GM is off of an 80's Camaro and despite having access to nicely shaped air inlets I can't find those silly oval hoses for the life of me.. (well, for anything less than outrageous money)

The Ford one is off of an 80s mustang and it points one of the snorkels right into the battery.. Doh. And, the big air tubes for gathering air are huge..

And, the dual snorkel I was going to make out of two air cleaners go stalled because one of the air cleaners in question is the banana-door style that is a one or two year only design and I couldn't put that to the dremel tool.. It'll be up on ebay eventually.. hehe.. as will the GM and Ford air cleaners..

Thats why I'm thinking hood scoop action.. Hopefully something that can be done on a fiberglass hood so I don't ruin my original.

I say do one like this. This car was awesome. I don't know who's it is, but it was at the Mopar Nats.

A L-88 scoop fits perfectly on top of the hood louver things and when done looks a lot like an AAR hood.
