cheap double roller timing chain. Forgo the pump/bearings so wont have to disturb the pan. SB street dominator intakes can be had for $75 & have 318 ports (matches your heads) and is a spread bore. No opinion on the cam. A FUNCTIONING thermoquad carb

Pan has to come off anyways...to get replaced with a car one from the truck/motorhome one. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

74k on a 360 is still pretty young for just a driver providing it's in good shape. I would be compelled to pull the pan and take a peek inside. I'm just crazy like that.
For sure. Check bearings.

this looks interesting
http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/smallblock/8.html
I have done this with a few 360 truck engines for towing and 4x4s
last one had the #302 heads with a home pocket port with 1.88/1.60 valves
600 carb LD4B intake napa brand cam with .423/.443 lift headers with duel 2.5 pipes
worked great for a truck, same combo was even more fun in the 68Dart with a stock HS TC and 3.55sg
I say go for it ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

thanks guys for the feed back now that i think of it i have the 302 swirl heads and a set of the LA360-roller block heads (i forget the casting #).
Definitely use those 360 roller block heads you have (should be a casting number ending in 308). Building a low RPM torque motor for a truck I wouldn't hesitate using 302 casting heads on a 360, but for a car it's going to seriously saddled the top end.

i only have a904's that were previously behind a 318, but I can get a weighted flex plate right?
Yes you can. I ran one the same piece for years until I stepped up to a 518 transmission.

if possible i would like to use manifolds rather than headers. unfortunately all i have left is a set of 318 manifolds from a 74 dart.
Don't sweat it, you'll never see a difference between any of the small block manifolds on a mild motor.

thanks for that article!! if that is the case then i am going to use a set of a body 318 manifolds i have and sell the 273 ones.
i can't want to start putting this thing together, now just have to get rid of the parts car and dig out the motor from the back of the shop,

318 ex manifolds wont fit on the dr side ('66 A with SB). You'd need to stay with the 273 logs or 340 HP's work in some cases as there's a tremendous stackup (variation) of tolerances in early A's. In any case the 340 HP's will fit if you shorten the manual steering coupler to 1/2 it length (still works fine). If that's the article claiming only several horse diff between mani's/headers iirc it's a misprint. headers with a good ex are going to be much better difference than that. The 273 logs will fit perfect but utilize a 2" ex pipe. No way that will give you much unless it's going to be a DD stocker
