I looking for a set of light duty hood hinges for a fiber glass hood. Any information on wear I could find a set would be appreciated.

Depending on the car, I didn't think hinges needed to be replaced, just the springs. Most places that sell the hoods can get the springs.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to use my original hinges. I guess I will take the old springs off and give them a fresh paint job. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

I had Restorick rebuild my hinges, to use with a glass hood. I had already bought springs, he suggested that springs aren't such a good idea with fiberglass. Over time, he told me the spring tension will probably be too much pressure on the glass, and suggested a prop rod instead. That's what I am going to do. Just a thought. Oh, and his work on my hinges is great, IMO.

Do you have his information? I would like to contact him. That sounds like a better idea than using the light duty springs. I also thought that over time I would have problems.

I was going to pin on the hood, but I think it would be easier to use the hinges.

He's on moparts, I also googled restorick and came up with his website. I didn't keep the info, because it was so easy to find. Check the user list for restorick.

Here's some pics of a setup I did on a 69 Dart with an AAR 6-pack 'glass hood. It uses a gas strut on each side.
The gas struts have pretty light pressure and in the closed position the force is primarily front to rear (not pushing up to bow the hood).

It works awesome !

HTH,
Rick
