is the valve spring on that valve still look good? i hear alot about breaking behives
that hallow stem is really hallow
I think his heads were done by Jeff had good springs and retainers. I don't like the valve though, hollow stem, especially production version. Maybe the quality is not there.
Sorry Steff that sucks. Hopefully you can get it back together.
they are PAC1218 and there was a rash of pac1518 that broke which is the same spring just coated or something
Chapper, it was a stock 6.1

If the spring caused the damage how would the warranty work?

The Springs, Valve Train in the rocker area & Rockers are all intact, no broken parts & all pushrods are perfect. Yes, the stock Valves are Hollow Stem & yes, the short block was stock.
Jeff did the heads for me & as mentioned PAC springs retainers & locks etc....I believed the hype of how good all the stock components were for the level of power I was making and there are plenty of guys beating the snot out of their stock 6.1's on a regular basis with no issues & there's guys breaking parts as well. It is what it is.......stuff happens. My plan this winter was to put a better rod & piston in it, but the destruction beat me to the punch.

That's harsh, man. At least you've got a selection of paperweights now! Going to go bigger/better with the rebuild?

Were you still using the piston squirters (not to start a big debate but I am curious)?
Aluminum 4.15 block with a 3.72 crank from the 6.4 = 402.5 cid. That ought to get you into the tens....

sorry to see that. i don't run the stock valves in any of those motors. i've seen enough broken stock ones to convince me to change them out.

Man that sucks Steff With the cam and springs you have I find it hard to imagine the valve would break. do you think it could have floated the valves possibly...Any witness marks on pistons that you can see? Looks like there is a small clean shiney line where the valve may have touched the piston. Sorry again dude

Don't think it went into valve float as it came apart about 6200 & it revved fine thru 1st & 2nd gear to 7000. Talking with Sean (HardcoreB), we both agree that most likely the stock piston came apart & then all heck broke loose.
