More fun things to sort out with the boat - The 440/727 combo loves to go forward smoothly at any speed. The 727 shifts strong. Reverse is another story. It goes into reverse fine, and moves fine on level and slightly inclined pavement, even with a little gas, but as soon as you start going uphill or putting more gas into it, it hesitates, bangs, clunks, then keeps going. The car sat for 7 years before I bought it, and initially didn't go into reverse at all, but has improved since I put some miles on it (trans fluid level has been checked many times and is full and looks clean). We checked the U-joints and they seem to be fine. Any ideas? It has a 2.76 open 8 3/4 in it.

Check the trans and engine mounts.
