I'M going to drill and tap a bleed into the top of the pump, would a brake bleed do ?.
Car gets hot very quickly, i run an HHR fan, meziere 35 GPM and griffin 32"x19" rad.

why do you have to fit a bleed? i have the reverse flow pump & i dont have a bleed & i dont get hot either.

How do you get air out of the system, also, do you find it cools well enough.

No its not a trick question... the air is going to
the high points... most of the time it gets locked
in the heads... on my car I made a high cap area(not
on the radiator)... my radiator is lower than the top
of my engine so it would be hard to fill

My rad is higher than the motor, what would you suggest.
I had a viscous fan before and it never got hot but i thought i would pick up power with the electric pump and fan.

I have a piece of clear plastic tube clamped in my upper
radiator hose.. that way I can be sure that the pump
is moving the water... if you want to put a bleed
in the pump you are thinking its not pumping water
(at least thats what I believe your thoughts are)

I don't think a brake bleed screw would work. They have a tapered seat to seal them when closed.

Perhaps a bleed screw assy form something like my Wilwood calipers might work. I think they are just an 1/8 pipe fitting and the bleed screw screws into and seals against that.

I am not familiar with the Mezeire on the big blocks. On the small block there is a simple fix. You have some small stainless allen screws that hold the front cover on the pump housing. Not the ones that go through the motor. Just back it out and when water shoots out screw it back in. You can hear the pump when it is cavitated and tell when it starts pumping just by the sound.

I had a reverse cool setup that I disquised as a standard flow. I hate the copy cats. It was terrible about cavitating. I called several people. Indy said it was the W8 heads fault. BS. Called Mezeire and they suggested drilling and tapping a pipe fitting into the top of the pump. Run a line back to the upper portion of the radiator. I did this and IMO the pumps should come this way. I no longer reverse cool but still take advantage of the bypass line. The pump will start pumping imediately after filling a new engine with water.

i've only had the airlock problem once & to fix it i raised the rear of the car til i heard the pump pick up & start working. the Mezzaire reverse flow pumps are 55gph not 35 & i find it works very well, better than the moroso it replaced.

I have a similar "trick"as Leon, a small fitting and 6mm (1/4) plastic tubing back to the radiator, works every time

I can hear the pump but when it heated up at the track last week, i released the cap for a second and cool water came out, this led me to think it was not circulating correctly.
I dont run a thermostat, my pump has allen screws on the front cover.
I thought some meziere's were 35gpm and some were 55.

sorry didn t find any good pics, but its pretty simple mine goes from the water manifoldsadaptor tingies between pump and block on weber beltdrive to upper part of radiator,
but I guess you could route them from the upper back of the heads if you have "normal" cooling system

I would also like to see how that's done.
What sort of fitting is used on the radiator.

I use pneumatic quick lock fittings, easy to use, cheap and available in a myriad of variations,
just weld a plate to the radiator ,drill and tap, I guess it needs to be over the water level to work best

Just an update for anyone that's interested, i took the pump to pieces and had a word with meziere, the drivers side upper bolt on the wing, where it bolts to the main casing goes straight into the channel where the impeller sits, so that would be the place to bleed but if that doesn;t work, i will tap into that area for the fitting.
The other thing i noticed, is that the impeller doesn't turn that freely when the pump housing is tightened up to the main housing, i am going to see if i can do something there.
