I have a 70 cuda with a rust cracked frame rail. Should I patch or get a whole new one? Any help suggestions are good

When I had a rusted rear frame issue, I replaced the rail, but I was also replacing all the attaching floors, so that frame replacement was a minor task.

However, if the floors had been in good shape, and the rest of the frame was solid (checking with a hammer for weak spots), I might have cut out the damaged portion and welded in new metal, perhaps adding extra connecting metal inside to help strengthen the joint between the old and new.

Thanks just me. Other opinions may vary.
