Our points season is over at Bristol Dragway (DER Racing Series) and my pre-season goals were met. As most on here know, I attempted to run 2 classes this season (1/8 mile Pro and 1/4 mile sportsman, both true footbrake) with the same car, and my goals were to finnish in the top 5 in both classes and qualify for the mid-season shootout in both classes. I did qualify for the shootout in both classes (RU one). In Sportsman class I finnished in 3rd with one win and a RU finnish in the mid season shoot out. In Pro class I finnished 5th with a win and a RU. This finnish is especially gratifing because of the 4 drivers that finnished ahead of me, not one but TWO of them are past NHRA World Footbrake Champions (Tim Griffith & Steve Foley), a 2 time IHRA divisional champion (Richard Newman) and the other driver won the most races this year in the class (3). Going into the last 2 races in Pro there were 7 drivers with a chance to win the championship, with a total of 7 rounds seperating 1st through 7th. In Sportsman, with 2 races to go, there were 5 drivers with a chance to win, with the top 3 seperated by 3 rounds. All in all, I feel like I had a good season there, and although it was tough at times, I'm glad I stuck it out. With 2 wins, 2 RU's (and a Wally win in the National Dragster Challange) I'd have to call this sucessful.
