What I meant was the distributor, the engine and everything is in I've got the #1 at TDC and the 0 on the timing cover and the the 0 on the harmonic balance lined up. but my rotor button isn't pointing to the number1 piston. So i'm confused any links or pics would be great, Thanks!

Rotate your crank back so your timing pointer reads at 10* BTDC. Then rotate the distributor until the the rotor points exactly over top of one of the spark plug cap terminals, it does not matter which one. That plug terminal is now your #1 spark plug, so put your #1 plug wire on there and move the rest of them around to keep your plug firing order correct. Your distributor doesn't care where your rotor is pointing, so long as you move #1 to where it's pointing, then move the rest of them around to match.

Start you engine and your timing should be close to 10*, adjust it with your timing light to dial it in.

Where is the rotor pointing? has inter gear or dist type been replaced? Assuming you are at #1 compression. Turn the crank back a slight bit to 10BTDC then with the vac adv nipple pointing to the pass side with room to be turned, line up the magnet dead even with the tooth and where the rotor is at start your #1 plug wire there & go clockwise. Ideally I like #1 forward & a bit to the pass side (factory OE) & I will reclock the inter gear to achieve that if needed as it lets the wires nestle neatly and I like the factory routing but for now you can put #1 wire on top of the rotor (wherever it is at) & route em & you're set

Lance---Fast Bob hits on a critical point--Make sure you're at TDC ON THE COMPRESSION STROKE!

Yeah everything is tight because I'm running a tunnel ram setup and lokar kick down and throttle cable and a custom Holley throttle linkage kit.
