You have to wonder why there isn't a standard between divisions in IHRA....
Each division has its own classes. I didn't know that.

I am going through the IHRA bracket finals rules for each division. Here is what I found for the "Nobox" or equal class "Modified", "Super", etc. Also note 1/8 vs 1/4 mile format.
Patriots - Div 1, 1/8 mile Modified ET – Electronics, delay boxes, timers on Nitrous systems and trans brakes are prohibited and not allowed on the car. Air or electric shifters are allowed. Clutch operated cars are allowed to run two steps. Shift lights and single stage line locks on non-drive wheels are allowed.
Heat Wave (West) - Div 2, 1/8 mile Super ET – No electronics. The use of delay boxes is prohibited. Electric and or pneumatic shifters are allowed in 2010. Single stage line locks and trans brakes are permitted. This class will be a true no box category in 2010.
Heat Wave (East) - Div 2, 1/8 mile Super ET – No electronics. The use of delay boxes is prohibited. Electric and or pneumatic shifters are allowed. Single stage line locks and trans brakes are permitted. This is a true no box category.
Heat Wave (North) - Div 2, 1/8 mile Modified ET – No Electronics. The use of delay boxes is prohibited. Electric and or pneumatic shifters are allowed in 2011. Single stage line locks and trans brakes are permitted. This class will be a true no box category in 2011.
North Stars - Div 3, 1/4 mile Modified ET - Delay boxes, air throttles are prohibited. Trans brakes, two steps and automated shifters are permitted.
Renegades - Div 4, 1/8 mile Modified ET – The use of delay boxes, throttle stops and trans brakes are prohibited. Buttons on steering wheels are prohibited. Nothing is allowed in the car that will assist the driver in leaving the starting line. Two steps are allowed on clutch assisted entries only. Pneumatic or electric shifters permitted
Thunder - Div 5, 1/4 mile Modified ET - Delay boxes and air throttles prohibited. All accepted trans brake buttons, trans brakes, two steps, and pneumatic or electric shifters permitted.
Border Bandits - Div 6, 1/4 mile Mod ET – No delay boxes. two steps, line locks and trans brakes are allowed. Pneumatic or electric shifters permitted.
Raiders - Div 9?, 1/8 mile Modified ET – Electronics, Delay Boxes, Timers on Nitrous Systems, Air or Electric Shifters and Trans Brakes are prohibited and not allowed on the car. Clutch operated cars are allowed to run Two Steps. Shift Lights and Single Stage Line Locks on nondrive wheels are allowed.
Summary: 9 bracket finals (Div 2 has East,West,North) 3 prohibit trans brakes (less each year or so) 3 run 1/4 mile, 6 run 1/8 mile
NOTE: The race for the World Championship will be run on a 1/4 mile format. And trans brakes are allowed. http://www.ihra.com/SummitSuperSeries/Rules/
