'70 E-body. Restoring dash components. How do you remove the cigarette lighter assembly from the steel bracket that holds it within the dash? It is obviously two pieces. Can it be removed and replaced without damage?

Most of them unscrew, stick your finger(s) in the center and unscrew the insert from the base (outside), remember righty tighty, lefty loosy! Seriously the inside unscrews from the outside and the frame is sandwiched inbetween, I can unsually unscrew them with my fingers as stated above.

The previous poster answered the question for you but if you want some visuals this might help. This is a removal of one from a Saturn. The only differences are that in the video he uses a socket to remove it and you should be able to do it with your fingers. The other differences is that the Saturn has 2 pieces on the backside ( a nut and collar) and your Challenger is one piece. The collar itself is threaded and it is just one piece.

Hope that helps. I have my dash out of the car and if you still need a photo after seeing the video, let me know and I will take one for you. Joe
