Told it was for a 440.. I see its .040 over, it is an aluminum piston. Says SQ on the top, inside says U.S.A 1650 and 350P I want to know what compression etc.

Thanks!

It's a flat top, measure the compression height & it'll be pretty easy to figure it out.....

, more than likely a low compression ash tray , you have a set of 8 to give out as Xmas gifts to your motorhead friends ...

found this I think it is a speedpro
440 350P E424K 66-71 30,40,60 9.4-1 compression, Flat top no valve reliefs, can be used in 1972 thru 1979 440 if you want more compression than those engines had stock from the factory, ch=1.990"

CH of 1.99 & an Advertised compression ratio of 9.4... but a true compression ratio closer to 8.0-1

1.991" is the CH of the original '67 or '70-'71 HP piston, with 90 cc chambers and a .020" gasket it would have a true CR of about 8.8-1

Looks like a sealed power or a Federal Mogul.. Speed Pro is the same company...

Thanks all. I agree this is the optional higher CR piston. I ended up finding the same link as you 1_Wild_RT.. Thanks.

Looks like the speedpro/federal mogul/etc L2266 piston. It doesn't give anywhere near the advertised compression ratio. My first 440 had a set of them in it. I swapped them out for some ROSS flattops...big difference.

I may be wrong, but I believe the only FM/Speed Pro/Sealed Power forged piston that gives a decent compression ratio is the L2355 "six pack" piston. It has 4 valve reliefs.

Yup... Don't know how I got singled out above, I'm certain it's a low compression pig piston...

What that says and what is real are 2 different things, to get close to the 9.4 that link claims you would have to have a head that's no bigger than an 80 cc chamber, that piston is roughly .090 in the hole.

The 1.991" piston in question was first used in the '67 440 with closed chamber heads and it was advertised as being 10.1

The piston was resurrected for use in the lower compression '70-'71 440 with open chambers and was advertised at 9.7 unlike the "low compression pig" that followed in '72.

In those years the standard 440 and the HP 440-4 used the same piston.
