I use to intentionally offset all the cam bearings, except number 4, to limit the oil to the cam bearings
Never saw a problem so I started centering them and saw no differences in pressure or life of the bearings or camshaft. Most Mopar lifter bores are way bigger than they should be which causes a lot of lubrication spray onto the cam and drains into the crankshaft assembly which ends up kicking it back into the cam tunnel
On the front bearing you want it back far enough so that it does not block off the slot on the front of the block that oils the backside of the can gear
It doesn't need to be way back in the block, just enough to allow oil flow acrosss it
Is your front bearing groove or not? The Hemi bearings had grooves and the rest did not originally, most of the BB cam bearings I have bought and used in the last several years had the grooves
