Just got our points totals updated from this weekends races and was wondering if everyone else's points races are this close?
I run DER Racing Series at Bristol Dragway in both Pro (1/8 mile true footbrake) AND Sportsman (1/4 mile true footbrake).
Sportsman is now, for all intents, a 3 horse race, with 2 races left. Two drivers tied for the lead and I'm 2 rounds back in 3rd, with probably 10-12 rounds to go. 4th & 5th are tied, 9 rounds behind me, with no tie breaker help.
Pro is a different story, with most likely 14 rounds left, the leader has a 3 round cushion over 2nd place. 1 round behind 2nd is 3rd, 1 more round back to 4th, 1 more round back to me in 5th and 6th & 7th is tied 1 more round behind. From 1st to 7th is 7 rounds. This class is so competitive, that EVERYONE in the top 7 has a REAL shot at the championship.
Is everyones points chase this tight?
This weekend should be fun!

I race in the Footbrake class at Farmington, Piedmont and Mooresville Dragways in North Carolina. The points races just ended at all 3 tracks and they all were decided at the very last race. At Farmington, Tim Cowick ['74 Dodge Dart Sport] won the title with a win with a 3 way tie going into the last race. Ken Myrick went into Piedmont's final points race 1 round behind the leader and emerged 1 round ahead by winning 3 rounds versus Randall Cantrell's 1 for the championship. James Lockhart outlasted Aaron Kesler for the title at Mooresville by just 1 round also.

At Maryland (MIR), it is only 2 rounds between 1st and 4th place in the 1/4 mile footbrake (MOD ET) class.

In the 1/8 mile standings, it was tied on Sunday until the 2nd place racer got eliminated and now the leader has a 2 round lead.

I didn`t Qualify for the Bracket Finals for the first time in 3 years, I missed by 2 rounds ending up in 9th Place ( they take the top 8)We missed over a month of racing ( all of August) due to flooding, a power outage and rainouts if we hadn`t I`m sure I would have got in. I also missed a Points Day to go to Mopars at the Grove ( I`m glad I went as I enjoyed it) Not a great year but not bad I do have one Eliminator Win and went some rounds when we did race just not enough, I promised my boss/company owner I`d work that Saturday on a special project anyhow, as the old saying goes: We`ll get e`m next year.
