I've never used Wiseco pistons, but they are 40+ grams lighter than their Diamond counterpart. Just looking for experience here. Anyone been hammering on Wiseco pistons for an extended time?

Are they lighter in the crown and hopefully not in the pin area?

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Ran Wiseco in our 640ci. Last owner choose them cause they were lighter. When I took the engine a part I found stress cracks around the ex side of the piston on the under side on each piston.

I am now running J/E.

Thank you; maybe this is one instance where light isn't always right.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

I've run Wiseco for years, never had any problems shifting at 9100 RPMs.

I have a set of wiseco's in my motor. I messed one up and need to buy a single piston but you can only get four as the smallest order.

Apparently Diamond will sell singles.

I don't think that is true as I have bought single pistons from wiseco before and have bought pistons in sets of ten so I had a spare left and right.

My experience is if you order custom pistons you can get them in any quantity you wish but not less than 4, if it's a shelf stock piston you can buy in singles regardless of the company but I've only dealt with Ross and Wiseco.

Does anyone by chance, have a pic of the underside of a smallblock Wiseco piston?

Just want to mention that i'm sure Wiseco is a great company and the products are just as good. I just wanted to point out lighter is sometimes not better is some applications. For pulling a lighter piston and pin was not the right choice.

I understand. Mine will be a Lt. Duty app. compared to what you're doing.

Now that's hammering on them for an extended period of time! I'm leaning toward the Wiseco's because they'll help the rods to live longer.

Thanks all!

Assuming these are shelf stock, which parts are you looking at? ProTru or Wiseco? There are 408 stroker parts in both lines. Generally, shelf stock is actually rather heavy for what the parts are, because they are geared to withstand a fair amount of nitrous.

The parts mentioned in this thread that cracked would have had to have been custom parts, which is almost always dictated by the customer what the thickness and "beefyness" of the part is to be.

If a customer leaves that spec up to Wiseco it is always going to be built heavier than lighter, for obvious strength issues.

If you want, shoot me an email and I can get you specs, and I can check to be sure what you are looking at is suitable for the application.

The 8cc 408 pistons are on the shelf and ready to go in .984 and .927 pin configurations for both 340 and 360 applications.

I talked to Kieth @Wiseco a few months back. I believe it was Pro-true we were talking about. I will need a custom pin ht.between 1.487 and 1.500.(haven't decided yet)

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.
