NO RUST IN AZ!!!
|
i just bought a parts car form Canada(im in AZ) and it has a perfect dash pad and most of the vinyl interior is useable for my pilot car. need to know how to preserve the pad(keep it squishy). az sun really dries this stuff out quickly. any thoughts or ideas, proven methods? ive heard armor all is bad has silicone in it and it actually will accelerate the procsss.

There's only one product recommended by vinyl makers for protection. 303 Aerospace Protectant. It's the best for preservation.
I would avoid any silicone based products, whether they have UV block or not. Again...look into 303.

If I remember correctly someone on here used petrolium jelly. Apply liberally, rub it in, let it sit for ??? and wipe off excess. Makes sense, both being petrolium based.
I've used it three lightly faded original dash pads with great results.

I recommend Meguiar's #57 Rubber, Vinyl, Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. It has UV protectant in it. I used if for years on my boat vinyl. If anything gets a beating by UV rays, it's boat interiors. Meguiar's #57 is not easy to find. Only certain boating supply stores have it. I get it at Boat US or West Marine.
