Well we have been pulling every weekend now since late May. We have won one pull and have stayed very consistant for much of the year in the top 3 or 5 out of 12 trucks usually.
We have finally pulled into first about 4 weeks back. Once that happened for some reason 3 pulls in a row we for 5th or 6th. The truck was running great it has the proper track speed down the track but when the weight came on it just stopped.
We were very puzzled because the truck should be much better then that!
We checked things over and over and finally took the whole front differential apart and found the problem. One of the springs on the detroit locker went weak!!!!! a 10$ spring ruined 3 pulls!!!
So what was happening was the front was locking and unlocking going down the track. not fully unlocking or we would have noticed easily on the videos but enough to lets say miss half a turn on every rotation.
Well we fixed that problem and just pulled a 2nd last weekend in Brome Quebec. Out of 8-9 trucks.
We re going into these last two pulls (friday, saturday) in 1st but only ahead by 2 points. If we didnt get do bad for those 3 pulls we would be nicely ahead but it is what it is.
It is gonna be hard to keep first because the guy in second has more HP then I do and we are on a pretty good power track. The guy runs a 640ci schmit engine. 1300-1350hp.
I am truly happy with my engine this year! It was be rock solid all summer and I couldn't ask much more from it. We did some important changes in the winter and it really fixed the problems that it was having last year.
I would just to thank some guys that helped over the years. Koffles, DTHEMI, Muscle Motores, Firecore, CompetionWedge, Manton, LSM, TFS and anyone else I have forgot.
Hopefully I can come back on here Monday saying i'm the champ of the year! Quite frankly though if we end up in second we couldn't be much happier either. There are some big trucks in my club and the competition is very high and is only growing. The guy in second is new this year. Bought a old NTPA truck and then a Schmit engine and is always right on top.
