I have heard it causes more stress in some areas because the rubber gives more than the poly. Whether this is true or not I'm not sure, but I have never actually heard or seen any kind of mechanical failure because of it. I'm not sure really why guys want to do a mix of the both and not just run one or the other. I cant see any advantages to doing either one over the other except for in high horsepower applications where the engine torques severely then it may be worth running poly.

The reason I am thinking of running a mix is I cant find a rubber trans mount for my 62' Chrysler. I do not need Poly mounts and I cant justify spending $150+ to replace my brand new rubber engine mounts for Poly ones just so they match the trans mount.... Id prefer to run a rubber piece, but cant locate one...just a Poly one from Imperial Services...

I would only run poly on an engine mount for reasons like jihad explained.

As for poly trans. They offer almost nothing in torque control. A Mopar trans mount basically holds the rear of the eng/trans assembly up. The engine mount take care of all the torque.

I came to this conclusion when I drove a big block Dart around for 2 years before I realized I forgot to bolt the trans to the mount.

They use a trans mount for a reason. It keeps the trans from moving.Unless you drive 20 all the time use it.Jesse as I said before ran a poly from Imperial in his 62 300 for probally 5 years. No problems at all and it saw tons of street and strip miles. Then Steve gave him the poly motor mounts. Now we both run Imperials poly mounts on all 3 places.Rocky
