Any reason why I shouldn't buy the heavy duty distributor drive, take the steel gear off and press and pin a bronze gear from comp or lunati? This would save about $100 over the mopar bronze gear and shaft.

Is the cam a steel billet? you do not need a bronze gear if the cam is a cast iron cam , the bronze gears do not last long either , only a few thousand miles at best.

the lunati cams cores have a iron pressed on gear so the stock roller cam drives will work fine.

mines been in since 07' and I just swaped the roller cam to another 318.

also, you can save and use comp 901-16 spring with any of the lunati SB cams,

I run the 292/292 in a 360

the 60710 roller

and another one i forget the specs of,but in the 230/230 at 50 range

all with comp 901-16 springs and stock retainers/seals

all have .485/.485 lift

Per the owner of Milodon, Milodon is coming out with SB Mopar bronze and steel gears of high quality material.

Suppose to be less $$ than the Comp stuff and little more than MP (but better mat'l).

I forgot if they are released yet, or will be soon. I heard he send some to Rob at Mancini. Call Milodon or Mancini to find out.

This is for a comp billet core.
I was referring to the bronze gear only, that lunati sells... Manually putting a bronze gear on a heavy duty shaft to save money$$

Thanks for the info on the new gears!
