They are selling chinese wheels now ,look a little flimsy but I guess they are allright for hobby use,
you have to put in a lot of time before you get the hang of it, I have had mine for years and I m still just a beginner

Yeah I've used them on a couple of different parts
and your right... the chinese stuff looks like it
would bend/bow if you used it... I wont even think
of one of those

Fabbed a.065 wall 3" stainless tube for the lower rad tube on my big truck last week. Tried to roll a bead in the tube ends with one of General Tso's finest rollers and it just deflected and spit the tube out without putting a mark in it.

It s my own design but there is a lot of pics out there on sites like metalmeet.com and others.
you just need a very stiff frame and the only really hard part to make is the lover adjustable post...

I tried to google english wheel pictures...things have sure changed since I searched for ideas 10 years ago with a dial up modem

I looked at a english wheel some years back at a auction
with a bunch of wheels with it... it was OLD but in
real nice shape but at the time I didnt have the room
for it... still kicking myself over that one

Your's is much more "finished" than mine.. But as long as I get repeatable results I'm happy.. I've got piston stops both for head on & head off, all sorts of press adapters, jigs for fabrication... Some pretty nice stuff here guys! And an interesting thread..

So far I've built axle stands, work benches, my Mig welder cart and a rotisserie.
