I made this transmission tool. It is to compress the front clutch springs of a 727 Torqueflite so you can change the seals, springs, etc. Pretty simple, but something is needed to do it!

Cool. Yes, it's near impossible without a tool.

My homemade 3rd member holder, I used it I bet 5 years. Something I threw together one night to make service easier. It works.
Then I bought a real one that holds heads and other things too.

4X4 block of wood works good to hold lifters.

I did not make this push rod holder, but my buddy did. Homemade clutch disc indicator fixture under that clutch disc.

He's very crafty.

A few engine building tools: Most are obvious. Cam install tool can be used with single bolt cams ( SB as shown ) using the aluminum adaptor which has a 7/16" threaded rod on the cam side or that section can be unbolted ( 3 bolts ) and it can be used with 3 bolt cams and dowel pins. Handle is about 15" long and has a "T" on the other end ( not in pic). Angle tool on top of the block is an easy way to see if the head port side angle matches the manifold angle. Cam checking lifter is nothing more than 2 gutted hyd lifters with a piece of threaded pipe jamed between them. Adjustable positive stop on #1 hole.

I've got pump pullers similar to yours. What's the horse-shoe looking thing for on the upper right side?

I assumed it's for depressing the springs in the clutch pack so you can remove the snap ring.... Used with a press..
