Converting a 73 Challenger w/solid frame and rusty quarters over to a 70/71.

Ready to buy Quarter skins, tail panel and new trunk lid.

Goodmark seems to be cheaper of the two and yes, i'm aware you get what you pay for. outer wheel houses are fine, just need skins.

Also, do I need the "rear panel to bumper filler" piece that I see listed for 70/71? I'm thinking yes.

All advice and pointers appreciated.

I put a pair of Goodmark panels on my wifes Challenger, and when I pressed on the wheel lip with my palm to push the panel in and clamp it to the wheel house my plam dented the panel. That will not happen with an AMD panel. AMD uses thicker than the original guage metal. The Goodmark panels are thin and flimsy. Spend the few extra bucks and get the AMD panels. If they were available when I did her car I would have bought them and sold off the Goodmark peices.

I just installed the goodmarks on my cuda yesterday. the metal IS really soft. and in trying to get it to fit tight around the seams, I did get some light dimples into the metal. nothing impossible to fix, but it's just more block sanding I'll have to do.

no experience with AMD quarters though. the AMD trunk gutter piece and yes, that little filler piece, both looked great, and fit good.

You'll be waiting for about 3 years to get AMD fenders though....

I was gonna say, I thought I saw BOXES of Fenders at the swap meet at the Nats, Stephens performance, right across from the AMD tent with their "85% new" 71 Cuda.

guy told me that only 15% or so of the car was original, everything else was AMD metal. --car looked amazing. wish mine was that far along!

I think we should wait to hear from a vendor b/c as of 1 week ago, they were "3 months from production in test fit stage"

which version? again, they had some at the Nats on display right out front. I specically remember seeing 71 louvered fenders, so maybe the one next to it was a 70 cuda. not sure if I remember Challenger fenders being on display, because I was paying attention to Cuda parts.

I test fitted them for AMD several times on both Cuda's and Challengers. They were approved for production in June. They are available to purchase as of about a month ago.

If you just need skins, then it shouldn't matter what you get.

I've heard thickness from either is comparable.

For full quarters on CHALLENGERS, I hear Goodmark's actually fit better.

For for skins, try to keep to top part of the quarter and put in skins just below the main body line:

i like the AMD quarters better, they seem thicker. i put a set on a 73 challenger.

i just called my AMD dealer and he has front fenders in stock for a 73 challenger, i was going to order one.

"Measured metal thickness of both panels at the side marker light indent. AMD was 0.033 and Goodmark was 0.034 inch."

Anymore thoughts or comparisons?

Again, changing tail panel, and lower skins only; How do the trunk lids compare?

Tail panel, trunk lids...ONLY get AMD. Ditto trunk extensions if you need 'em (most likely).

For trunk PANs (if you need one), don't think it matters.
