The boots on a couple of my bb plug wires hit the header tubes and keep melting. I've tried metal shields, fiberglass matting and a few other things but nothing seems to work. I've seen the adjustable angle boots Mopar Performance sold at one time. Do they work and can I still get them? Any thing else you've tried that worked?

This member seems to know a thing or two about spark plug wires. You might try contacting him with your needs.

If it's actually touching nothing is going to work...You need some clearance between the boot and the tube...If that means dinging the tube so be it...I try to use the shorty plugs if available for the application which may help...But you're right...The fiberglass mesh covers will burn... And once that happens it seems to actually cook the boot even more ! Even with minimal clearance you still run the risk of the boot eventually getting hot and cracking... I had one vehicle that always got the boots replaced once a year after the season was over...They just could'nt take the heat...

I switched to Jacobs after burning up a couple sets of wires. No problem since. 2" dougs headers. Right side between 8 and 6. Left side between 5 and 7. And yeah I tried all that asbestos, and other heat shielding. Look bad and didn't work.

Agree you need some clearance. After I burnt a set of Moroso wires on my setup I got the MSD adjustable boot wires. No problems since as I have decent clearance. For reference I'm running Ed heads on a B engine with 1 7/8" TTI's. The TTI's came "pre-dimpled" for the angled plug Ed heads so it was just a matter of getting the right boot angles to clear the headers.
