Looking to see what brand/type of rustproofing you guys have used and had good results with. I will be doing it myself and not taking it anywhere to have it done. I want to do the cab corners and inside wheel wells of box on a 06 1500 truck i bought.

my friend swears by old engine oil. i would use new oil and spray new oil in all the places. my other friend would mix STP and oil on a hot plate and spray it.there's a shop by me that is a tranny shop and it sprays a mix also. dont pull it in the garage let it sit outside for awhile. --days

Eastwood has a good rust proof formula. It goes on thin to penetrate then sets up to a waxy consistancy. I use it with a brush where I can reach and a rust proof gun where I can't reach. The rust proof gun has a 3' flexible wand with tip that shoots out in all directions.

When I do rockers or other hidden spaces I drill holes for the wand, lay down plastic or drop cloths and spray away until it drips freely from the drains. I drill the holes sized to fit plastic plugs. After its done dripping, at least overnight, I plug the holes.

It does have a bit of an odor when its wet but seems to work quite well.

I'm planning on a 2-pronged attack. First, treat it with a phosphoric acid based rust converter. Supposed to react with the iron oxide (rust) to convert it to an iron phosphate, releasing the oxygen in the process. Using purple power stuff from local parts stores, sags to spray it in, let it dry. Does not say that it needs neutralized or washed off, says to spray it and leave it. When it's done, the rust turns Black and dries slightly tacky, ready for primer. My second phase is to use zero rust to seal everything. If it's good enough for resto Rick, it's good enough for me!!

Should leave everything "rust free" and sealed to prevent future rust.
