seriously i am a little miffed...started out with exhaust falling off so i hung it up a with some wire as it was slipping off the front of the catalytic converter.

that lasted for about a year with no problems until the other day it fell off again so i put a clamp on it, and though problem solved...well it still falls off and tighter the poop out of it.

perhaps can it be that either the pipe has worn from slipping in an out for the last 10k mikes? i feel like such a rookie right now, but reality just want the exhaust to stay up on the truck.

you probably have some metal fatigue going on from all the movement...meaning that its a bit stretched.

You need to weld that joint. That is the be-all, end-all fix.

Go to your local muffler shop and they will weld it and throw a hanger on it for $20.....done.

My parts house has some spacers like a big ring w a cut gap the you slip inside an ex pipe by compressing it. Run across them the other day & had em for years so I dont remem what they came with but if you could locate/fab something similar it'd take up the slack

just drill a small hole and put a sheet metal screw in it.

guys as an update, feed back and comments from the various responses inspired me to slot the exhaust pipe (on the horizontal) so that the clamp could crush the pipe more/at all.

well this worked and clearly i could see where the pipe closed the (1/16th in) gap on both sides from where i cut it will a hack-zall.

thanks!
