Hi.

First time putting together an engine combo. I want to have it done right the first time and last.

I'm researching valve train combos that will suit my 512 short block running a Comp Cams XE275HL-10 grind with Edlebrock 84 cc heads and valve springs, which are rated to 0.600 in lift.

Which type of rocker ratio should I go with? 1.5 or 1.6? Should I keep with Comp on rockers?

This will be a street/strip setup.

Thanks

That cam seems pretty small for 512". Something around 260@.050 would be pretty mild in an engine that big.

If that is so, which cam would you recommend? I figured with a duration that high, my whole rpm power band would be too high, starting out in the 3500 and climbing, which would be unnecessary for my mostly street driven manners.

I'm really after torque for my heavy 71 B-body, mostly in the mid range and up to about a limit of 6500 rpm.

What is a stout cam if what I have is too small?
