I wouldn't have any luck at all. So I took the car out finally today. First time since last Oct when I got a hole in the driver-side slick after one pass.
So today, I swap on the moroso blue valve cover gaskets to solve a nagging leak back by number 7. Not too bad, but causes embarressing smoke on first start up until it burns off. So while I had the valve covers off I check and tighten header bolts.
Get to the track, leak fixed. Hour plus in tech line. Finally make a pass and it spins bad, 1.63 sixty and then its popping in higher RPM's. Its never done that before, so I let off and coast to an 11.84 at 86mph.
Check it out back at the trailer and find a nice big crack in the number 7 header tube, right at the flange. Well, now I know where the popping was coming from.

I had those gaskets and couldn't get on with them, i now use Greg's ( ROADHAZARD's ) superperformance gaskets much better and a reasonable price. Mick

Make sure you drill a stress reliever hole at the ends of the crack before welding EDIT Also if the flange isnt cut between the end pipes and the center pipes you should... it reduces the stress on the pipes allowing them to grow easier ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

What's funny is that on these headers, number seven tube is a slip fit that goes around the steering column. It's flange is separate from the rest and there "shouldn't" be any stress on it. It being the slip fit tube should make it fairly easy to get out in order to fix it. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/luck.gif)
