I haven't had my car to the track since July 23rd. That was the NOF race that had a 95.00 entry fee for pro. Prior to that I have ran points for three weekends at a cost of around 300.00 a weekend. I never had a first round win and only a couple of buyback wins that don't count towards points anyhow. To top everything off,it was always hot and humid when we raced. It got to the point where it wasn't fun anymore and I came within a gnats eye lash of selling my car and moving on. I have thought long and hard about this and come to the conclusion that it might be fun just to test and tune. Jericogtx got me thinking about that! So for 20.00 plus race fuel,I can probably get some seat time and have some fun! I probably will enter a couple of special races. But for now I am finished chasing points... There....I feel better already!!

Ted, nothing wrong with entering a race once in a while. Just have to keep it fun, and know you could go home after first round.

I don't chase points mainly because my work schedule prevents me from going every weekend. We have a Tuesday evening run what you brung gamblers race for $50 I try to do as often as possible and win a round or two pretty regularly. Some of the points guys show and it's fun to put those box cars on the trailer Otherwise I try to do the local Mopar and nostalgia races. I hvven't run much this summer as I did a new engine this spring then broke it first run I'm waiting on good parts that won't be available until the end of the month and then It may cool off some by the time I get back out.

As most on here know that I took this year off from racing for a couple of reasons... I wanted to get my other car done and I cant drive anymore(so I have a driver)... when I was driving and taking care of the car it was alot of work and wasnt going many rounds... found that my physical condition was a factor there... BUT it wasnt much fun... I dont mind being the crew chief, sorta fun again to set the car up and have it run just what I expect.... I will get back out next year(hopefully) and if it isnt fun then the car goes up on the "FOR SALE" block

Thought about putting it back on the street?
I like a car I can drive anywhere and make a few test and tune passes when I get the urge.
I've never been able to get fully caught up in the points chase thing mainly because my kids and their activities come first.

I haven't given up on drag racing, but I have really gotten into the Open Road racing like Silver State. 90 miles of wide open throttle on a temporarily closed public highway in the same car I used to run for 11 seconds at a time maybe 5 times in a good weekend. I'll still drag race, but for now I am really digging the new format.
Enjoy your hobby to the fullest. If chasing points isn't any fun, then it's a job. If you still want to go fast, T&T!

tboomer----- in my case--i go out and run test&tunes-my friends & i have lots of fun doing that,we do a few races-knowing we dont have a chance to win but still do it for fun. i used to bracket race for 13 years--i suxked and it wasnt fun.we have sooo much more fun doing this and meeting more people and its alot more cheaper,my car runs 8.90s@152 on 10.5-i tune the car, jason waterman runs the computer & makes the run calls and bobby loder drives the wheels off this thing--us 3 have had a blast this past 3 years,i'm going to keep doing it this way-for as long as i can. the car gets ALOT of attention and i'm not going in dedt doing this ross
