The other day while driving my demon the amp gauge went up to 40 amps drove about 1/2 mile then smelt like a wire burning and amp gauge went to 0. Checked alternator it passed the test at advanced auto. Changed regulator and it started charging again it lasted about 1 minute then stoped charging any ideas what it could be. Thanks Mike

Start w tracing/examining the blue/green wire field circuits from end to end esp the green one.
