Would there be any issue using a spring with a 1.950 installed height set up at 1.860? This would be a beehive spring and would still end up .110 from coil bind.
Thanks!

You might check Comp Cams and Crane Cams' retainers and 10* locks as they both make std, +/-.050" locks and various other parts plus the springs shims; however the big question is, do you want to increase the spring pressure that much? If so, check them out as they're std production items.

None that I can thank of, I have shimmed many sets with .090 or more thick shims If you have aluminum heads make sure to use a harden spring seat or spring cup first and then shims I have started to put the shims under the cups or seats now instead of directly under the springs Make sure and use the wide shims that as wide as the cup or seat.

1.860 is with a +.050" retainer, an ID locator and the increased spring pressure is a plus. I always put the shims under the locator.
Thanks
