Got back out to RT 66 today to find out if any of my supertuning has done any good. Car has been running well downtrack, but is just lazy off the line.
Went up for time run #1, car still felt lazy, ran 14:33@97.

Went up for #2, and was first in line so the car was pretty well cooled down. This time it felt really good and went 13:82@99.8.

I found out that it had nothing to do with the carb after all. I finally realized that I was setting my timing by the marks I had made on the hold down, which was all fine and good, EXCEPT when I put the milled head on last year I retarded the cam, thus making my marks useless.

The only change I made from last time out was putting as much timing in it as I could without removing the distributor. Now that I am sure I'm on the right track, I will go ahead and pull the distibutor and move the bracket around so that I can get a little more timing in it.
It just feels good to finally be making progress.
I also remembered in the first round why I quit footbraking this car. When I went up on the converter it pushed a little, and I was dead late.

At least I didn't have to load the car in the dark.
